Data, Information and Communication in Organizations Management Essay - 10
Data, Information and Communication in Organizations Management - Essay Example Data needs analysis and interpretation with probable possibilities to enable for the proper development of information in management processes. Communication incorporates data processing by the sender through channels in a manner that the recipient can understand. Communication within organizations requires clear and well-defined channels, which pass instructions to various stakeholders within organizations. Organizations use well-analyzed data, processed information and channeled communication to improve efficiency and effectiveness in networking and team building among employees. The use of data within an organization enables the disclosure of various facts that are invaluable in the implementation management practices. At Nike Company where I serve, for instance, the use of statistical data to know the population of people using Nike products assists in the production of a significant number of products that serve all customers. Statistical information on Nike products gives figures on how Nike products get into the market and the level of their demand and supply. Proper application of the statistics ensures appropriate production in the company without any shortage in the marketplace. Based on the theory of price mechanism, especially in management, the use of data in organizations gives them the real figures on demand and supply chains. Therefore, the use of data in organizations en ables for the implementation of demand and supply theory in management (International Conference On The Bookmark Of The School Of The Future, Taylor & Hogenbirk, 2013, p. 138). Information increases efficiency in organizations by expanding knowledge among stakeholders on the proper operations and management techniques. Remarkably, the use of information allows various employees and customers to equip themselves with ideas on various products and their use.Ã

Morality vs. Rational Self-Interest Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Morality vs. Rational Self-Interest - Essay Example This means that an immoral behavior, as opposed to the moral one, is hypocritical, irrational or insincere. Psycho-socially, there are situational occasions in which people weigh the pros and cons of their behaviors, and rationally and sincerely decide that the best things for them to do are precisely what moral forbids. In other meaning, what do we make of the situations under which morality tells you to do one thing whereas self-interest tells you to do exactly an opposite thing? Accordingly, many social role players are psychologically directly inclined to improve their self-interests above any other innate behaviors including morality. For the psychologically inclined individuals in the elevation of self-interest, when self-interest and morality come into a head-to-head conflict, morality loses out. Per se, rationally speaking, morality should always conquer self-interest. In summary, the conquest nature of morality on self-interest, in the long run, may ruin the societal structural functionalism. In a society where morality set standards to the self-interest, there would be an implication of lack of facts about the right and wrong; people would be free to do whatever they like thus leading to the dysfunctionality of the structures.

Performance and Reward Management Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Performance and Reward Management - Assignment Example Organizations need HR data in order to make rational and informed decisions for adequate performance management. In order to make sure that hardworking employees are rewarded and disloyal and unproductive employees are penalized, it is imperative that HR data is collected and maintained. Such data includes but is not limited to employeesââ¬â¢ attendance, their productivity in terms of goal achievement, their discipline and conduct, and their professional growth and skill development. Having detailed recorded information of all these aspects enables the managers to quantify the results and ensure that the resources are adequately utilized for the benefit of the organization. Collecting data related to employeesââ¬â¢ performance helps HR admin in rational decision making. Resources in an organization are limited. In order to achieve organizational goals, it is essential to assign these resources proportionately among the employees considering their needs and past performance. HR admin needs employeesââ¬â¢ performance data during the performance appraisal process. This data helps HR admin reach the decisions of promoting certain employees and demoting others, offering increments to certain employees and decrements to others, and selecting employees to be sent as expatriates to other countries. Data related to sick absences is needed by the HR admin not only for monitoring the productivity of employees but also to ensure the provision of adequate medical care to the employees. Besides, the organization might incur significant costs in paying the increased insurance premiums for such employees. It is the responsibility of the HR admin to watch out for employees who are using organizational resources for personal gains and report them to the top management. Electronic record storage, as the name implies, is the storage of information in a
Organizational change part 3 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Organizational change part 3 - Essay Example The challenges of managing organizational change often scare away some leaders who opt to avoid change. This often has its own consequences. Organizational change, if approached in the right way, can lead the organization in the best direction in the industry and helps to keep the organization prepared for any future changes. The most critical part of organizational change lies with the leaders. An organizationââ¬â¢s leaders have to manage the change through planning, assessment and evaluation and have to ensure that every stakeholder in the organization buys in to the ides of change and is involved in it (Hechanova, and Teng-Calleja, 2011). Organizational change can be said to be successful if it meets its objectives and the benefits of the change are realized by the management and employees of the organization. Readiness for change is one of the issues that change management experts have focused on in the recent few years by recommending strategies that organizations need to tak e in order to be fully prepared for change. Readiness for change is a very crucial concept in healthcare given the ever changing nature of treatment. Healthcare organizations have to be strategically positioned so as to meet the demands brought about by change. An organizationââ¬â¢s readiness for change depends on various factors such as organizational culture, flexibility of the organizationââ¬â¢s policies, and the ability of leaders to manage changes in the working environment. Managing change in a healthcare facility is not different from other organizations (Weiner, Lewis & Linnan, 2009). The leaders have to be very assertive and proactive in steering health organizations in the right direction. This requires constant assessment of the current level of operations in the organization and determining what needs to be done so as to help improve treatment of patients. The need for the proposed change has been brought up by the increase in the number of deaths occurring from in vasive interventional radiology procedures in recent years. Despite having qualified and dedicated personnel, the deaths have increased persistently for many people to notice. It came to our realization that this was due to insufficient staff. The number of patients has increased significantly increasing the ration between patients and employees. This situation has created the need for a change in the organization which would include hiring of two nurses who will specifically handle patients in the radiology room. There are likely to be barriers to implementing this change. Some of the challenges in implementing the proposed change include lack of funds to initiate and manage the change as well as lack of receptors. Implementing the proposed change require creating strategies that will be used as guiding principles throughout the process. A change implementation strategy for organizations includes various elements that have to be carefully analyzed before the change process is imple mented (Hechanova and Teng-Calleja, 2011). These elements include situational awareness, the structures supporting the change, and strategy analysis. Situational awareness involves understanding the implications of change on the organizations, knowing who will be affected by the impending change and gathering as much resources and knowledge about the change to be implemented. Supporting structures

Sustainability of shellfish stocks in the Irish Sea Essay
Sustainability of shellfish stocks in the Irish Sea - Essay Example The seminar presentation seeks to find ways that could help sustain the population of fish stocks in the Irish Sea. In order to achieve this, the organisms must be organized into different breeding groups, migration patterns; productivity, genetics and habitats must be first explored and understood. The shellfish were organized into a population structure whereby a population is a group of organisms of one species which can freely interbreed and live in the same place at a time (Atkinson, 2000)2. Populations can be further divided into sub-populations where interbreeding is restricted and the organisms accumulate genetic differences and may locally adapt to the environment. Another way of organizing the shellfish is by the use of the stock concept. This involves division into stocks for easier management. However, this may not accurately reflect genetic sub-division because in subdivision and productivity concept, each sub-population contributes absolute productivity to the total population which may vary depending on environmental conditions. While extirpation of subpopulations decreases, total productivity may increase vulnerability to environmental change and decrease genetic diversity. In considering subdivision and gene flow, the reduction in size or density of subpopulations may reduce migration between subpopulations and increases genetic drift or may increase migration into some subpopulations. Migration of locally harvested stock contribute to breeding populations over a much wider geographical area, for example, salmon and trout harvested in the ocean contain migrants from many different freshwater streams which are genetically isolated subpopulations and locally adapted to breeding streams (Nielsen, 1994)3. The methodologies used include the migration of larvae or adults between subpopulations, DNA extraction of haemolymph or muscle, DNA analysis through gene sequencing and screen for microsatellite markers used to measure genetic diversity. Human Activity and Climate Change Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Human Activity and Climate Change - Assignment Example Carbon dioxide has been described as one of the most anthropogenic greenhouse gas. That is it is caused by human activity and the influence that they have on the environment. The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased from 280 parts per million (ppm) before the industrial revolution to 379 ppm3 in 2005. Additionally, the concentration of to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in 2005 was much greater than the natural range of 180 to 300ppm over the last 650,000 years. This information has been determined from ice cores spanning thousands of years. Continuous measurements show that during the ten years spanning 1995 to 2005 the annual growth rate of the concentration of carbon dioxide was 1.9ppm and this is more than that for the period 1960 to 2005 when the concentration was 1.4ppm. The use of fossil fuel has been found to be the main source of the increased concentration of carbon dioxide ever since the pre-industrial period which dates from 1900 to 1926 with annual emission increasing from an average of 6.4 GIC per annum in the 1990ââ¬â¢s to 7.2 per year during the period 2000 to 2005. Greenhouse gas emissions that have been attributed to the change in the way land is used has been found to be significantly less when compared to greenhouse gas emissions from carbon dioxide at a rate of 1.6 GtC per year throughout the 1990ââ¬â¢s. However, these estimates According to California Energy Commission, there are three major forms of fossil fuel ââ¬â coal, oil and natural gas. They have formed millions of years ago during the Carboniferous period which is part of the Paleozoic Era. Carboniferous comes from the word carbon and carbon is the basic element that makes up coal, oil and natural gas. Coal is used to fuel power plants and other factories.
